It's 2:37am St. John's time. I'll post about the last few day, how we come home a day early and the trip home tomorrow - later today. I have pictures as well.

Ok so we are now in Ottawa, at my Uncle Bob's and we're exusted! 14 hours on the train yesterday and another 4 this morning. It's hard to believe that we are almost done this trip! I have more picutes to post if not this week then when we get back to St. John's.

Centeral Park, frozeen hot chocolate, and other tales

So yesterday we decided that we would take it easy - take the subway up to 110th, the top of Centeral Park and just walk around and we would get out on like 90th and take the subway downtown to 60th and make our way to Serendipity. From there we would catch a movie. That was the plan anyways. What we ended up doing was getting off at 110th like planned, but we ended up walking in a zig-zag pattern. One off ramp we saw was for 90th, next was 77th but we were on the west side and needed to be on the east. So we kept walking passed the 72nd St ramp some how maded it across the park and got out on 84th east! We were exusted! And it was so muggy yesterday (today was pretty bad too). We made it to Serendipity which is 60th bewteen 2nd and 3rd (we walked), only to find it would be a hour to 1 & 1/2 wait. We had yet to have lunch, thinking we would eat at Serendipity so we went to the Califorina Pizza Kitchen. Really good food, not a bad price either. It's pizza that is more fine dining. After lunch we still had some time so we went to this huge candy store that was next to us. Wow! Candy as far as the eye could see - two floors of it. We restrained our selves, but just barly.
Finally went back to Serendipity and got a table. All we got were the 'Frozeen Hot Chocolates' but wow they were good! Think a hot chocolate slushy with a tone of whipped cream on top. Don't think I could have one every time, but definitly something to try. They come with two straws for the love birds, and are big enough so two can easly share.
We did go to our movie after a rest in our room - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. So much fun! Anyone who hasn't seen it, go! Amazing! I'll get Krista to write a better review later.

Today we went to FOA Swartez(sp?) which is the biggest most expensive toy store you will have goto. Really fun to go and look but I wouldn't get anything there unless I really liked the kid and new he/she would love the gift.
Krista and I indulged our inner child today (even more then going to a big toy store) . We came arcoss a Build a Bear Workshop and made ourselves bears! They had a kawala so Krista couldn't say no and if she was doing on I had to too. It's alot of fun and I want to go and make another one. It's one of those stores that makes me wish I had more younger cousin to spoil.

So that was the last few days, we have tomorrow and then we take an early train back to Toronto, then over to Ottowa. Wow a week has passed already! see you all in less then a week, hope your all doing well.

Lion King.......wow

Okay so it is my job to do the review of the Lion King and one word sums it up wow with a captial WOW.
The show is amazing from the singing to the costumes you are caught up in the experience of it from the opening number.
The crew of the show should be thanked as with the sheer number of wirless mics to keep track of is a job in itself. The mix was amazing although at times you got some mic noise if it was hit, also sometimes I thought the music overpowered the vocials just a tiny bit. (at times) The drums were great and they were in a box at the sides of the stage so this made it slightly harder for the players as they could not see the conductor just the show but the were tight and amazing players with all the different elements that they had around them. Seeing them play was a show in itself. I couldnt help but wonder how they did the mix I would think that they would have two one for the vocals and one for the live music.
The light design was very well done the colours and placment of the lights just enhanced the show and made the spell even better. The use of storbe lights was apporate and done at the right times to add the suspense to the show.
The costumes for all the animals were works of arts with people on stilts, the Graffes were up on two sets one for feet and one for hands. Four people to one costume the elephant. To the Lion costumes with the masks.
The show was awesome with the cast and crew opperating like a finely tuned meachine it did not seem that they were around 50 people but just one person that came together to make this a night I well never forget.
I have to say that the person playing Refki who ever they are should win an award for that performance as they were brillant. I think the star of the show.
Overall I have to say I would go again and again each time discovering something new. Go if you have the chance and be prepare to be spell-bound from start to finish.

Ok, so I've been a bad touriest. It just that I'd rather have pictures in my head then take the time and remember to take pictures for everyone else to see. This is from yesterday's trip to the Met Musium. The Met was interesting, but defently needs more then one trip to see it all. Getting there was an experence all on to it's self. I have very little memory of being in London so I don't know what there system is like, but I think New York can put it to shame for confusion. There are something like 5 different lines and trying to find the right street to enter the line you want is warrent of needing superpowers. After finding the right line, we ended up going in the wrong direction. This we turned to our advantage and took a side trip to Barnes and Noble for a stop in the Starbucks and to pick up some well needed reading material. The place was Harry Potter crazy. After that detour we were back on the subway convinced we knew what we were doing. And we did, sort of. Mixed signals of which way we wanted to go, and getting off at the wrong stop we were finally on our way uptown. We stuck to the first floor and browsed through most of the exibits. There was an interesting display of Chenel through the decades.
Oh yeah and eariler that day we took a trip through Macy's - a person could get lost in there! We just kept going up and up and up finally stoping on the 9th floor. BIG store, you need a map or guided tour to find what you want there. Interesting to see anyways.
Not sure what we are doing today, at the moment we are enjoying Starbucks and surfing the net.

We're living in a shoebox

Seriously! The room is 7 feet wide by 9 feet long, add in the bunkbeds, a table, dresser with TV, a chair and coat rack you just turn around. Get me and Krista and our three suitcases in there and your doing the sideways shuffle. I'll try and post a picture to show I am on exaderating. We are hoping to change rooms tomorrow - may have pay a bit more, but that's ok.

The train ride down was very nice - if you have to do long trips trains are the way to go, and not that expensive either. We had a bit of a miss hap getting to the station, completely my fault. I got us off at the Ferrydocks which was one stop too soon. So we waited for the next street car lugged all our bags up the stairs (never do public transit with more then one rolly bag. At least not streetcars or buses). Anywho we got there and so much fun going up the stairs and through the doors. Meet some really nice people who helped us with our bags (one young traveler from the accent I'd say Australian). Once we got on the train and settle away we were find. Krista got her two seats and I set across the ide from her with mine. When we stopped in Niagara Falls, USA the customs came on. Nothing happened with that I'm happy to say, he just asked some questions and then was on to the next person. There was a father/daughter behind me from Egypt that Customs spent a lot of time taking to and asking the same questions over and over. A elderly gentleman from India was also asked a lot of questions, but in the end everything seamed to be fine.
We had various delays (customs being one of them as well has a frait rain had an accendent and we had to wait for the track to be free) so we ended up being over 2 hours laten getting into Penn Station. Luckily we got a cab really easy and were on our way to the Vanderbilt Y. Checking in was another story altogether. There was only one person on because it was after midnight and other people kept walking in to get small things. Also the man infront of me (I left Krista to sit with the bags) was having trouble checking in or with his room. Finally got to me and she was so short and rude. She was very put out that I didn't have Krista's passport and didn't think to have her filled out the waver form. Excuse me, I wasn't told we both had to and someone had to stay with the bags. Anyways it's done we are here and hopfully we will be getting a different room tomorrow. Oh yeah I don't think the sheets or the garbage had been change from the previous patrons so we may be doing laundry tonight.

I love NYC

I know that this is really our first morning in the big city but I love it already from ordering my bagel this morning to walking in Times Square just a few minutes ago.
We had a very long day yesterday the train was two hours late getting into Penn station so we did not get here until 11:30 last night so by the time we got out of the station and to the Vanderbelt Y we were tired and sleepy.
Ahh yes the Vanderbelt Y let me put it this way I think that if I lay down along the width of the room I would be able to touch the walls, small...very small. So this morning we asked if it is possible to switch rooms as we both felt we crowed and kinda like the walls are closing in on us, none were free but the staff think that it may be possible for us to switch tomorrow. Other then the small room I would stay there again great price, great location, and they have securty.
I love it here more then Tonorto and its not as hot, finally after years of wanting to come here I am here and loving every minute of it.
Cant wait to see the Lion King tonight it should be awesome. Tell you all about it tomorrow.

Starbucks is daycare for me

Today the heat really wiped me out so after walking Oueen St. and Kingston Ave. we went back to the res where we are staying and I slept and tried to cool down. So when I was back on my feet again, well as best as I could be as my feet are killing me, we went out in search of food. We left here around 8 with the intentions of going to the Eaton Center for some juice and food. But we couldn't transfer at the stop we were at so we went to this pub and grill for food which was very yummy.
When we left Megs said I well drop you at Starbucks and I can go get tokens for the TTC and come back and get you and if Ben and Jerry's I will stop and get some for you on the way back if they are open, so baiscally Starbucks is my daycare, drop me there with coffee and Im happy and safe. (hehe). I went with Megs to the TTC station anyways as I was in the mood to walk and go to Ben and Jerry's.
I cant wait though one more sleep till Im in the city of my dream's NYC. This time tomorrow I will be there.

Computer troubles, iPods and the coolest used cd store ever!

Hi, I'm back again. This morning we were at the computer lab here at New College, which by the way for anyone looking for a cheap clean place to stay in TO it's really good. Any who, we were there because last night Krista's computer decided that is didn't want to work and worry Krista. This afternoon a nice computer tech guy (also know as U of T Computer God) came over and fixed her all up.

Yesterday during our wanderings I was looking for a iPod mini, green to exact. Boy the was it hard to find! One store everything but green, another didn't think there was a green ipod left in the city. Finally found one in a computer store on Younge. I'm uploading songs to it now.

The songs are from this great used cd and dvd store on Bloor. Any music lover that finds themselves in TO should check this place out. Warning: it is advised to have a friend with you when shopping at Sonic Boom, as to stop you from going into debt. If you like Uban Sound Exchange at home you will LOVE this place. Krista and I had to pull each other out so we would have money for NY.

Otherwise we took it easy today, we really needed it. Since we step off the plane on Saturday we have been going nonstop. I think that is from Toronto, talk to you all again when we get to New York.

We're here!

It is the start of day three in Toronto and boy have done a lot in the last two days. We walked Spidina, part of Queen West, Yonge, Front, part of King, bits of Bloor and Bay; and that was the first day.

Yesterday was more low key with most of the day walking around the Toronto Outdoors Art Festival. We did parts of The Eaton's Centre in the afternoon. There is now a Lush store in the Easton Centre and so of course Krista HAD to go in. One the thing then another it was let known that though Krista was a loyal customer of Lush, this was her first time in a store. What happened next was to funny for words but I will try:
Once it was known that it was Krista's first time but had been ordering online for 4 years, party music was put on, and the search for balloons was started. She didn't find balloons but came out with a laye and a plastic sword! I had my camera so I wanted to get a picture to document this momentous occasion but you can't take pictures inside Lush, instead we went just outside the store. Just then the phone rings and it is the manager of the store! Krista is put on the phone with her and is congratulated. I can't post the pic right now but that is who Krista is talking to on the phone. Once we were in the store again Krista was instructed to pick out any bath bomb for free. There was another couple in the store getting a real kick out of the show and in the spirit of things the woman was knighted as well. Oh yeah they knighted Krista! Can't remember her name but the whole thing was bizarre!

Last night we went to see the Wizard of Oz put to Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon. See Krista’s post for more details.

I'm sure there so much I am forgetting or missing but hopefully between Krista and I we got everything. And if not, it will come out in the wash. Later gators, until next we find a computer or we can get Krista's working again. Hopefully I can post some pic's next time.

My first time at lush and other stories

First of all Lis that is so cute that Rocky uses my Dr. Pepper bottle as a playtoy.
Let's see since we got to Toronto we have yet to stop really, we have done a lot of walking and have the blisters to prove it (ouch) I love it here and just walking around finding interesting stuff to do has been fun. When we got here on Saturday we walked around St. Lawrence market and some of Queen, Front and Spidina. We found an up air art fair and walked around that and went there again on Sunday as there was so much there and even going twice we still didnt see everything. On Saturday we also to get in some air condiationing (sp?) we went and saw Fantastic Four awesome movie.
Sunday we went to the eaton center and I went to my first Lush store and boy was it an experience I have been ordering from Lush for about 4 years now and I have never been to a store, I told them this and all I can say is if you want the whole story check out Megs post as I was laughing to hard to hear what they were saying. We also saw a poster for a showing of Wizard of Oz with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon as the sound track, it is this group that is run out of some guys house. It was the type of thing that was cool but I wouldnt go there by myself, Megs and I sat by the door just in case we felt the need to run. The show was good but some of the links were a little hard to understand and I thought that there might have been a better song to use there but all in all it was a cool way to pass a sunday night.
Today it will be more walking around and finding cool stuff to do along the way.
I have noticed that I have used the word cool to much in this post, oh well

First post on the new blog

Wow I can not believe that the trip is here already. It seems like only yesterday we were planing on going. I am sure that we have driven all you guys nuts with talking about the trip but its here we leave tomorrow. I am so excited and it is going to be so much fun. I have always wanted to go to NYC and now I am finally going. I am going to miss you all. See you all when I get back

We're on our way!

In less then 12 hours Krista and will be at the St. John's International Airport waiting to go through security and goto Toronto. This doesn't seem real. I booked everything in March and back then I didnt' think this day would ever come. But it's here and I've said my good byes. More tomorrow hopefully on the acually plane trip and maybe some stories too.
